About

Cake Zine is a literary magazine publishing ambitious writing by established and emerging authors, using food as a way into culture, history, and the margins.

Founded in 2022 by co-editors Aliza Abarbanel and Tanya Bush and art director Noah Emrich, Cake Zine publishes two print issues a year. Each issue takes a single theme and explores it through reported features, essays, fiction, recipes, and art from some of the most sought-after writers and cooks working today.

More than 300 contributors have appeared in its pages, from James Beard Award winners to New York Times bestselling authors, among them Sohla El-Waylly, Leslie Jamison, Emily Sundberg, Catherine Lacey, Brooks Headley, Sarah Thankam Mathews, Rama Duwaji, Jordan Kisner, Paola Velez, and Isle McElroy.

Cake Zine is based in New York and Paris and is sold at more than 180 stores around the world, including Artbook at MoMA PS1, Books Are Magic, magCulture, McNally Jackson, Skylight Books, and Yvon Lambert.
